The physics of a petawatt brain

The $SIS lore comes from the 2026 race for orbital compute: AI satellites built on the Moon, launched by electromagnetic mass drivers and powered by raw sunlight at petawatt scale. These are the real numbers behind the meme, each one checkable.

Eight readouts

What super intelligence costs in watts

Intelligence runs on energy. Start with the 20 watt human brain, scale to a petawatt in orbit, and the numbers get wild fast.

1PW

Target compute power

One petawatt is 1015 watts, the scale the orbital compute race is chasing.

50×

Humanity's power, times fifty

Civilization runs on about 20 terawatts of primary energy. A petawatt is roughly 50 times that.

0.90K

Kardashev rating

On Carl Sagan's scale a petawatt civilization scores 0.90. Humanity sits near 0.73.

50trillion

Human brains of power

A human brain runs on about 20 watts, so one petawatt could power 50 trillion of them.

86billion

Neurons in one human brain

The benchmark every claim of super intelligence gets measured against.

1,361W/m²

Sunlight above the sky

The solar constant. No clouds and no weather between orbital panels and the Sun.

2.38km/s

Lunar escape velocity

The speed a mass driver on the Moon has to hit to fling a satellite free of lunar gravity.

1.28s

Moon to Earth light delay

How long a thought from a lunar data center takes to reach a ground station.

Kardashev ladder · Sagan scale

How far a petawatt brain moves the needle

K = (log₁₀P − 6) / 10, with P in watts. Each step of 0.10 is ten times more power. Type I means using all the energy that reaches a planet, about 1016 watts.

The lore

Where the satellite came from

Meme tokens borrow from the news. $SIS borrowed from the biggest compute story of 2026.

Mass drivers on the Moon

In 2026 Elon Musk floated a factory on the Moon that would build AI satellites and fling them into space with an electromagnetic mass driver, part of a push to take compute beyond the power limits of Earth. Coverage of the plan described it as the start of a petawatt-scale era of intelligence.

One satellite, one brain

$SIS gave that idea a face: a single Super Intelligence Satellite in low Earth orbit, beaming intelligence down to every city. The original dev walked away. The satellite, the memes and the numbers now belong to the Codeflex takeover.
